On March 30, 2020 and April 30, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued Interim Final Rules providing significant flexibility in Medicare coverage and payment for hospital and physician services and waivers on other Medicare and Medicaid requirements.  Most of these changes were made effective as of March 1, 2020 and will continue through the government declared public health emergency or December 31, 2020.  Summaries of the March 30 Rule and April 30 Rule can be found on the NAEC Website.

In addition, NAEC has prepared a one-page fact sheet on Medicare’s allowances for telehealth and telephone only services with a chart showing CPT Codes and national average payments. Many private insurers and state Medicaid plans have instituted similar policies related to telehealth.
