The National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) is committed to respecting the privacy of information provided during your visits to the website, www.naec-epilepsy.org. To better protect the privacy of our members and visitors to the site we provide this notice:

On this site we may ask that you provide information to us. This information is collected when you are

  • Signing up for a NAEC meeting or activity
  • Applying to become a NAEC member
  • Completing the NAEC accreditation process

Information obtained on your membership application will not be released. Any personal information provided to NAEC in an e-mail message will be used only in response to the message. We do not share information with outside parties except to the extent necessary to complete your request.

However, we may use the information we collect to better service your needs regarding customer service surveys, marketing communications, or general membership correspondence. The information given is not used for any other purpose and is not shared. We do not use personally identifiable information without providing an opportunity for you to opt out or prohibit communication. In accordance with 15 U.S.C. § 7704(a) if at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future correspondence you can contact us by phone or email and we will promptly remove you from all correspondence.

For general users of the public areas of the site, information is not collected other than basic Internet Protocol (IP) addresses that are exclusively used for internal tracking of site usage.

NAEC’s website contains links to many other sites. However, NAEC is not responsible for the content or the privacy practices of other sites.

Children’s Policy: NAEC’s website is intended for adults. NAEC does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If NAEC obtains knowledge that it has personally identifiable information about a child under 13 in retrievable form in its files, NAEC will delete that information from our existing files.

Cookies & Computer-Related Information: NAEC does not enable “cookies” on our website with one exception. A cookie is used in website system administration to keep track of movement of an individual user from one screen to another. This information may be used by our staff to detect and resolve website problems and to assist with customer support. We do not collect any personally identifiable information about site visitors in this process.

Our web server automatically collects information from your computer and navigation patterns when you visit our site, including your IP address, the computer’s operating system, the type of browser you use, and the specific web pages visited during your connection. We may also track data such as the total number of visits to our website and the number of visitors to each page of our website.

We may use this information, in aggregate form, for system maintenance and to better understand how our visitors use our site and services so that we can make them better.

For California users: CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law’s reach stretches well beyond California to require any person or company in the United States (and conceivably the world) that operates websites collecting Personally Identifiable Information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals or companies with whom it is being shared. NAEC meets the requirements of CalOPPA.

The NAEC reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy. The revised Privacy Policy is effective at the time of posting to www.naec-epilepsy.org. The terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy are incorporated by reference into this Site’s Disclaimer, and are subject to those terms, conditions, and limitations stated therein.
